Things to do in Dubai in the summer

Dubai is a great place to visit, with so many world record breaking activities and experiences to enjoy. It’s popularity with tourists from all over the world, and hot and dry climate, ensure visitors have a rather unique set of 'cool' things to do in the very hot summer months (Dubai Weather - June to September average Dubai day time temperatures are in the very high 30's C or low 100's F).

So what are the 'cool' things to do in Dubai in Summer?

Dubai Water Activities

The water is always a great way of cooling off, so let’s start with some great and exhilarating water based activities in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Dubai.

Take a high speed water trip on a jet boat or RIB speed boat, or get yourself on a Jet Ski, and benefit from the sea breezes while whizzing over the warm waters of the gulf.

Want to enjoy the benefits of being in the Gulf without the adrenalin rush, then why not charter a boat, go fishing, or take a more leisurely sailing trip from Dubai.

And although the sea is fairly warm, getting into it is bound to be a great pleasure – go diving in Dubai!

For a shorter water based relief from the heat in the down town area, take a traditional Abra ride across Dubai creek. This cheap and ancient, hop on hop off, form of transport is a great way of seeing Dubai and its people.

For a more modern and luxurious air conditioned experience why not take a land and water based tour with a Duck tour on the Dubai Wonderbus amphibious vehicles, or enjoy an air conditioned dinner cruise on Dubai Creek.

For full on water fun get yourself along to one of the great Dubai Waterparks, and enjoy a great day at Wild Wadi or Atlantis.

Other wild and wet experiences on offer include the opportunity to get in the pool with a dolphin at Atlantis or at Dubai Dolphinarium, or for the braver souls diving with the sharks at the Dubai Aquarium.

Indoor Dubai Family Fun

Want to escape the sun all together and get indoors then again you have plenty of great choices. The traditional cinema and ten pin bowling are always safe bets for family fun.

For kids there are many great indoor choices including Fun City, Sega Republic, Stargate, Dubai Aquarium or the amazing Kidzania play park where the kids get to ‘Play Work’, taking on loads of great and exciting work roles like Policeperson or Fireperson to earn play money!

Hit the Shops

And let’s not forget the opportunity to go shopping – hit any of Dubai’s famous great shopping malls including Marina Mall and Dubai Mall for some cool retail therapy!

Get High

Experience the world tallest building with a trip to ‘At the Top’, the Observation Deck in the Burj Khalifa building, an amazing 582m high!, or get up high on the climbing wall at the indoor climbing centre.

After a hard day of activities why not relax with a great meal or a drink in some of Dubai’s high spots. Enjoy great views over Dubai and the Persian Gulf from some of Dubai’s highest bars and restaurants. Places like Vu’s bar in the Emirates Towers, the Skyview Bar in the iconic Burj al Arab Hotel, the Uptown Bar at the top of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, or for the ultimate high try Atmosphere the worlds highest restaurant.

And for the opposite, why not try dining under the gulf, in the underwater Al Mahara restaurant in the Burj al Arab.

Spoil yourself with the need for speed!

'Lifes too short' so hire yourself a nice air conditioned supercar (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc - choices, choices!) and blast down the highway to Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, the world’s biggest under cover theme park!

The Coolest things to do in Dubai in summer!

And in true competition fashion I have of course left the best until last – what could be better on a hot summers day in than skiing in Dubai, while it is possibly in the high 40’s outside, or maybe a session of Ice Skating.

Dubai is home to great indoor snow skiing and ice skating facilities. Forget the heat and hit the ice and snow! And for the adults both of these facilities are in shoping malls, so if you do not fancy hitting the slopes or the rink, that's cool - you can leave the kids having fun and shop!

No need to let the good weather spoil your day – there’s plenty of ‘cool’ things to do in Dubai!
