Unusual things to do in Switzerland

Following a recent YouGoDo staffer's visit to the land of yodeling, cuckoo clocks and chocolates our things to do in Switzerland guide is growing fast!

And its great to see some really unusual things to do in Switzerland being added.

Some of the tourist agencies themselves have obviously put some great thought into creating novel offerings to attract their activity hungry visitors. This seems especially true in the Fribourg region where they offer:

5 day mountain bike tours (self GPS guided with loan pre loaded GPS equipment, different hotel and destination each night and your luggage taken to each location for you each day - superb)

Urban Golf - a cross between golf and a guided tour! Great way to explore the old town.

Sledging Fondue Nights - a combination of sledging down a floodlit challenging blue ski slope, and enjoying a great Swiss fondue.

Excellent ideas. Buts it not just the Fribourg region with such great offerings.

Paragliding looks a very popular way of enjoying the stunning Swiss scenery, with numerous suppliers of airborne fun in the country. And most let you choose between and scenic flight or something with a lot more adrenalin!

And if you want to go more hardcore how about:

sky diving the Eiger - sky diving the north face of the world famous Eiger mountain

taking one of the Trotti bike trips (another popular one in Switzerland – scooters for ‘grown ups’ on the downhill runs from the cable car stations – great fun)

a Swiss Via Ferrata course – which I guess could be described as extreme hiking or soft mountaineering! Basically following extreme routes with huge drops while clipped to steps, high bridges, etc mounted onto the mountains walls.

Mid Summer Skiing and Snowboarding (with a great zip wire thrown in!) on the glacier at the Top of Europe, accessed via the world famous Jungfrau Mountain Railway.

The first flyer - 4 parallel 800m long zip wires without supports. Stunning!

Indoor rope park above an ice rink!

And it does not have to be extreme to be unusual – how about taking the romantic meal in a cable car gondola, milking a Swiss cow, a combination of Yoga and Mountaineering, or making your own chocolate on a chocolate making course.

And of course there are loads more ideas - we do not have space to showcase all the zorbing, pendulum jumping, bungy jumps, bobsleigh runs, scenic flights landing on glaciers, etc.

All great fun - take a look!
