Things to do in Fort Myers

A new attractions (activities for us Brits!) web site has just been launched specifically for things to do in Fort Myers, so if you are looking for some fun in South West Florida could be the place to look to help plan your vacation (holiday for us Brits!) action.

Fort Myers and the West Coast of Florida are often overlooked in comparison to Orlando, Miami and the Florida Keys but there is quite a bit to see and do.

Fort Myers has stunning beaches and the nearby Islands of Sanibel and Captiva are stunning, with a hint of a flavour of the Keys. Of course these beaches and the stunning warm Gulf waters mean water sports form a great deal of the leisure offerings – boat rentals, fishing, parasailing, kayaking with manatees, jet skiing and dolphin trips are high on the menu. Inland you have the Florida Everglades with its airboat rides.

And for those in Fort Myers who would like a taste of the Keys a great boat get away is the high speed catamaran service to Key West. Take the Key West Express from Fort Myers to Key West. A great trip and I’d suggest at least one night in Keys West.

And remember the West Coast means glorious sunsets from the beach each evening. Try and get over to that West Coast of Florida and chill out!
