With such a great deal of development occurring in Dubai in the past few years (quite an understatement if you count the past few years as being 30!) it is no surprise that Dubai is growing into one of the world's best visitor destinations, especially with its superb winter climate.
Here I take a quick look at some of the great things to do in Dubai.
In the summer months the water parks are among the best the places to play - and the superb Wild Wadi, located under the stunning Burj Al Arab hotel, is now joined by the recently opened Aquaventure water park on the amazing Palm Island. Here you can tube through tanks of sharks and experience swimming with Dolphins at Dolphin Bay.
Diving, dolphin watching and fishing from Dubai are also great ways of escaping the summer heat.
But I guess the Number 1 place to escape the heat is the stunning Dubai Indoor Ski Slopes, the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East, at the Emirates Mall. Mix skiing and shopping!
And of course being Dubai, you have a good few options for bling - hiring a supercar in Dubai being one, and chartering a yacht to cruise the gulf is another. Or why not combine both and take a white Rolls Royce to your Yacht for the day!
For those wanting to escape the city and head for the dessert, numerous operators offer day trips from Dubai - dune bashing Hummer 4x4 adventures and sand dune buggy driving. You can even go sandboarding (dune surfing) or camp the night in the dessert.
Or take a Dubai Scenic Flight to see the area from the air by helicopter tour or small aircraft. Taking a Hot Air Balloon ride over Dubai is something special, but for those with a fear of flying you can get a pretty good view of the city 1024 feet up in Views Bar on the 51st floor of the Emirates Towers.
And back to a little more luxury - why not take a dinner cruise on Dubai Creek, in the heart of downtown Dubai city. Or, if you are feeling a little less well off, see the same sights for a few cents with an Abra (traditional Arabian boat) trip across the creek.
And no trip to Dubai would be complete without hitting the souks and shops!
Dubai - a great place to visit.
