Things to do on the Costa del Sol
What are the most popular family attraction on the Costa del Sol? Having lived here a few years now with two young daughters I can claim to have tried most of the local family attractions in the Marbella, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Nerja and Malaga areas.
Here's a few of the most popular larger attractions in the area:
Selwo Adventure - a large zoo, just inland between Marbella and Estepona. A 4 wheel drive takes you into the heart of the very spacious zoo, and onward to other parts of the zoo. Camel rides and bird shows are performed. You can take a walk across many rope bridges, and on your way back choose to walk through a huge aviary.
The Water Parks at Torremolinos and Mijas (Fuengirola) - The Torremolinos park is slighty larger and more modern but both offer a great day out.
Fuengirola Zoo - a surprisingly good little zoo set in the heart of Fuengirola. Very well kept and great to visit.
The Teleferico - a cable car taking you up the mountain above Benalmadena for great views and horse and bird shows.
Tivoli World - a nice theme park based on the hill above Benalmadena. With a host of rides and shows for all ages the park has a nice feel to it. We are not talking the size of Disney but great fun all the same.
These activities are a few of the major attractions in the area. There are of course hundreds of things to do on the Costa del Sol.
And if you are more of an active person then there is also plenty active adrenaliny things to do on the Costa del Sol - aimed specifically at those who would cringe at the thought of visiting the Costa del Sol - hiking, biking, motorcycling, horse riding, tennis, sphereing, dolphin watching, cruising, quad biking, climbing, fishing, karting, golf, etc. I have managed to convert all of my friends who had originally (wrongly) assumed Spain is one big sun, sea and sangria resort!
Take a look at the interactive activities map of the Costa del Sol - the inland stuff tends to be the most active!
I'd strongly recommend visiting the area - its has some great activities for all tastes
